PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR ARTWORK
Right along side doing great art and then writing about it very eloquently comes photographing it brilliantly.  Most of the time your work will be seen by a gallery, juried exhibition committee
in photographs first, if the real work is ever seen at all. In other words, most decisions for picking your work for a gallery, exhibition, public art project, etc., is made from a photograph of the work.  So, make your photographs really stand out.  By this we mean, make them clear, crisp and with good detail.  Make sure the colors are accurate and have the images cropped so that you don't see anything but the art work. If the work is an installed sculpture, make sure you have a wonderful location shot.  This sounds logical and like it would be 2nd nature to an artist but it is amazing how many artists portfolios come across our path that include very poorly done photographs.

Another consideration is the delivery of your images.  In today's world images can be printed, on CD, in slides, and on the Internet to name a few. Sometimes you will be asked for slides of your work and a couple days later someone will want CMYK images at 300 dpi and they also need RGB shots at 180 dpi for the web.  Yeow!!  While it can drive yo a bit goofy, it is not as bad as it seems.
